AUSTRALIA

  • Australia is a vast island continent and country located in the Southern Hemisphere, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world’s sixth-largest country by land area but has a relatively small population concentrated along the eastern and southeastern coasts. It’s capital is Canberra, while major cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth are economic and cultural hubs. Australia is known for its diverse natural landscapes—ranging from arid deserts and tropical rainforests to pristine beaches and mountain ranges—as well as its unique wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, and platypuses. The Great Barrier Reef, located off the northeast coast, is the world's largest coral reef system and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

  • Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere, between the Indian Ocean to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. It lies southeast of Asia, with Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and East Timor as its closest northern neighbors. To the southeast across the Tasman Sea is New Zealand.

Geographically, it is both a country and a continent, occupying the entire landmass of the Australian continent. It is the only country that is also a continent, making it unique in the world.
